The Dems are already starting to play the cover and blame game.

October 23, 2009 at 1:16 pm | In National Politics, Virginia Politics, obama | Leave a Comment

Election day is still a few days off and already National and State Dems are starting to play the blame game on why Deeds lost the election.    Of course this is more about protecting obama then anything else.

However, given the recent State wide elections in the Commonwealth,  having only one other Gubernatorial race in the Country(in very blue New Jersey) and with the Chairman of the DNC holding elected office in the Commonwealth, it’s a train wreck for the Dems.    This is a race, they simply had to win in order to show obama has some coat tails leading up to the 2010 elections, where the stakes are much higher.

Could timmy also be out as DNC chairman if the GOP wins not only VA but also in NJ?   Stay turned.  It could get very entertaining to see the Dems implode.

As expected the Manassas Journal Messenger has endorsed Jackson Miller.

It’s not that big of a surprise Jackson received the endorsement, when you consider just how awful a candidate Jeanette is.   She simply can’t keep track of what she has said in the past and seems to what to be everything to everyone.

As long as Jackson continues to demonstrate he can work on conservative ideas while keeping a bi-partisan bent, he will continue to win reelection in the 50th district.    However, it’s pretty evident he’s looking at a larger role in politics.  I’d like to see him run against Chuck Colgan, or at least the seat when Colgan decides to retire.   Also, Jackson is young enough, he could take a run at Lt. Governor in the next election cycle as well.   As an elected official from “Northern Virginia”  with ties to South Side,  Jackson is well suited to make a run at such a  position.

News7 Poll: Republicans hold comfortable leads in statewide contests – WDBJ7 Roanoke News and Weather NRV Lynchburg Danville |

More good news for the entire Virginia GOP ticket.   I think after two terms of liberal dems who lied about taxes will produce such poll results.   It also does not help the dem in the race is running on raising taxes.

More good news for McDonnell. Though, the poll does show a high number of voters who are undecided.  It does not also list the number of people who were polled.    However, it does pretty much fit in with other recent polls that show McDonnell with a solid lead.

EDITORIAL: Robert F. McDonnell for governor | InsideNova.com

Unlike the compost, the MJM seems to understand there are limits to how States can restrict abortion, as much as they may want to do more.  They also understand while the thesis might be an issue, it’s not the only one, and by no means should it be the central focus of a campaign strategy.

It just goes to show how weak the compost is in trying to come up with reasons, other then party, to endorse Deeds.

The Compost endorses Deeds.

In other news, the sun rises and sets each day.    They overlook Deeds stance on gay rights from ten years, to focus on McDonnells’ views from twenty years ago.    They package a huge tax increase by Mark Warner as being sensible.  Of course after it was passed, it was discovered it was not needed.

The Post is always in favor of more taxes, and yet, they endorse a guy who is so weak kneed, he was unable to provide a straight forward answer regarding his plans to increase taxes.     He stands for nothing and it shows in the polls, even the one sponsored by the post last week.

The Manassas Journal Messenger has annouced it will publish their political endorsements starting tomorrow with the Governors race.     The only one I’m pretty sure of is in the 50th District, where they will endorse Jackson Miller.

illegal alien issue bubbles up again in Herndon.

While it appears all has been calm in Herndon over the last couple of years regarding illegal aliens, this episode shows it is still an issue.    I do find it interesting people do not appear to understand elected officials have the same right to protest as private Citizens.  Ira Lupu,  the law GW law professor also appears to miss the point too, since he sides with the Citizen, who wanted to stop any future protesting of her elected officials.    Is that not freedom of speech?

Mason Dixon Poll results show a McDonnell lead of 8%.

October 11, 2009 at 6:02 pm | In Virginia Politics | Leave a Comment

This basically backs up the Post’s poll last week that had McDonnell leading by 9%.   The internal numbers of the polls show Deeds, just is not winning by a large enough margin in NOVA to make up for deficits in the rest of the State.

Poll: GOP has 9-point lead in Va. governor’s race – wtop.com

Nice whiff by the COMPOST.  They attempted to smear McDonnell while ignoring Deeds’ stance on gays from just ten years ago.    The COMPOST could not attack McDonnell on his policies or positions on jobs, the economy, etc, so they started to throw mud, and it appears it has backfired in a big way.

It also does not help that Deeds has said he will raise taxes and then roll our Mark Warner to say Deeds understands how to create jobs by keeping taxes low.  But, given Warner said he was not going to raise taxes  as Governor and ended up doing just that, I guess Warner does not know any better.

Business groups want new taxes to fund transit improvements | InsideNova.com#comments#comments

October 8, 2009 at 8:31 am | In Virginia Politics, economy | Leave a Comment

I think we all would like to see better roads and less congestion on our roads.  However, raising taxes is the not the answer.  Arlington County, will not allow an extra lane to be added to Route 66, inside the beltway, so it really does not matter how much money is on hand to pay for that lane.

Hot lanes are already being built on 495.   The other major roads already being used simply can’t be expanded because there is no more room to add lanes to those roads.   Metro is bleeding money left and right.   If you are not at the Vienna metro before 8, good luck getting a parking spot at the station, you simply are not going to find one.  That means there are already a large segment of the local population using metro and public transportation.   How many more riders can metro handle during the rush hour?

We need to rid our area of illegals, that will cut down the population and free up space on the roads and the metro, people need to drive smarter, meaning don’t slow down because there is an accident on the other side of the road, don’t drive slow in the left lanes, do use signals, do not pace the cars next to them, thus blocking lanes so that no other cars can pass on two lane roads, etc.

Of course the businesses don’t want to pay taxes, they will just pass them on to consumers.
