After having suffered through back to back liberal wins, the GOP took back the Governorship today, and followed that up by winning the other two top positions.   Jackson Miller as expected won reelection by a wide margin. 

I was able to work a couple of hours at the polls and also attended the GOP celebration party at the Old Town Inn.   Today was a great day for Virginia and the future is looking bright once again.   

If recent polls hold true,  Bob McDonnell will be our next Governor, and there is a chance the GOP will increase their majority in the House.    Of course just winning the election is not enough.   McDonnell will have to follow through on his campaign pledges and get our Commonwealth moving in the right direction.   Otherwise, in four years, there will be another bruising election cycle if the GOP cannot show they have learned from past disappointments.   

I’m scheduled to volunteer later today at the polls,  so I’ll have  a post later on what I saw and heard.  Go out and vote.

I had the chance to meet up with Jackson Miller today, when he made an appearance at the Gun and Ammo warehouse in Manassas.   The NRA also had a table in the parking lot.  As usual, Jackson was very complementary of his opponent and is not looking past election day.    I can’t say enough about Jackson and his focus on jobs, transportation, and families.    I don’t have a problem stating he is going to win with a larger margin then he did last election.

The MJM  weighs in on the HOD race for the 50th district.    Once you get by the mistakes of the Rishell campaign, there’s not much written about her.   I’m sure the reporter wanted to do a fair job, but it’s a hard job when trying to cover a candidate as poor as Jeanette is. 

Does she really think  that all 5,000 new voters in the district will vote for her?  If so, she really is out there.    Though, I’m sure Jackson would not mind seeing her in 2012, since she’s such an easy opponent to defeat.

It’s not that big of a surprise Jackson received the endorsement, when you consider just how awful a candidate Jeanette is.   She simply can’t keep track of what she has said in the past and seems to what to be everything to everyone.  

As long as Jackson continues to demonstrate he can work on conservative ideas while keeping a bi-partisan bent, he will continue to win reelection in the 50th district.    However, it’s pretty evident he’s looking at a larger role in politics.  I’d like to see him run against Chuck Colgan, or at least the seat when Colgan decides to retire.   Also, Jackson is young enough, he could take a run at Lt. Governor in the next election cycle as well.   As an elected official from “Northern Virginia”  with ties to South Side,  Jackson is well suited to make a run at such a  position.
